This proverb was mentioned in the first published works of the Danish philosopher Kierkegaard, a proverb that explains the nature and reception of truth, the collective mind and its relationship to art, but at the heart of the metaphor Kierkegaard chose the clown, as for the audience he is a person who cannot be taken seriously. As a medium, the presence of the clown on stage at that moment of truth turns it into one of his tricks, that is his natural environment, he is not completely human, he is always a front for laughter, and because of that lies the irony on the tongue of the last believable person, the news of the end of the world will come and the crowd will meet him with laughter and applause.
